I doubt the clearance lights would even pass DOT rules. There are rules to brightness and distance they are supposed to be seen. I would check the junk yards and try looking for a set off something else that you would like and find easy enough to adapt to your needs.

What do you think? I coppied the photo of the 6' Oval LED on ebay, reduced it and pasted it on to the picture of my bumper.
As you can see I spraypainted the bumper so you can see how it looks painted black.
I also droped the original light on the left side down to see how that looks when compared to the light on the left which is still in the stock location.

The second photo is from WWW.FLIPFLOPLED.COM. I think all I would have to do is cut the hole and screw it onto the bumper.

However, the other kind would need a rubber grommet. Do you think one would look better than the other?

I personally like the smaller 55-59 taillights and brackets that mount lower towards the bumper. You can get them in stainless steel and they really clean the back up nice.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE GROMMET TYPE LIGHTS. I PUT 4 OF THEM IN MY 69 TOWTRUCK, & THE BODY IS 1/4" THICK. JUST ROUGH OUT THE HOLE WITH A SAWZALL & FINISH IT UP WITH A CARBIDE BURR IN A DIE GRINDER. THEY WORK SO GOOD & SO BRIGHT THAT IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME & THEY WILL BE MANDATORY ON ALL NEW VEHICALS. I BOUGHT MINE FROM FLIP FLOP LED AT THE H.A.N. SWAP MEET FOR $100 . THAT WAS LIGHTS, GROMMETS & STAINLESS BEZELS. HERES A PIC. JOHN

Here's a side pic of the truck.
I think the rear bumper blends with the rest of the truck when you can see all of it together as opposed to just the rear shots of the truck.

Lights

Get Some Jame Strate Leds From Auto Zone And Wire A Plug So You Could Install Them In The Holes In The Rolled Portion Of Your Bed At The Top. That Would Be Sweet And Very Clean Looking

Last 2 ideas above are both good ones. As far as pics, I like Solver's solution the best. And I do have to say that now that I have seen the side view of your truck, the bumper doesn't look as over-powering as from the back. In fact, I think it goes with that long step pretty well. Good luck with the light selection.

Thanks for all the input thus far. I agree that the 73-87 lights look better than the originals, so that's always a possiblity.

I found these LED's on ebay and pasted them into the photo to get an idea of what they would look like. They have 11 LED's and are a turn, stop, taillight. I confess that I'm leaning towards purchasing them and seeing how they do.

First of all I wanna say I like your Truck! It's not very often you see a longstep look so good! As for the lights I say maybe Semi Truck Trailer LED's mounted in that sweet bumper!

Those look good, and would be much more visible than anything mounted in the bumper too.

Ole Yeller and me are a lot alike as I haven't found any tail lamps I thought were right for MY truck. I'm still lookin. The stock round ones are very "visible" but I want something I guess more blended in and not stuck out there like well a pair of big ears for the lack of a better comparison. No offense to any big earred folks out there.

Thanks Barn9. Also thanks for the complement on the bumper earlier, likewise to Canadian.

BTW, Canadian, I was just in Toronto/Mississauga two weeks ago on business. That makes my 3rd trip up there in the last 4 years. Love Canada in the summertime.

visibality

if you are worried about being able to see the light led is the way to go. I have 4 jam strate bulbe in my grand am with clear lenses two on each side and they are super bright you can see an led from a long way away no matter how big they are. thats why people use them alot. there small and almost not seen till you sep on that pedal then they by far out shine those factory ears. I do how ever like the semi light idea. some of the semi chrome shops here in tx have some wild looking lights to choose from there shure to make a show stopper ( my opinion is do something no one else or at least not many people have done, think about that drooling efect you feel whene you see someones truck and you think man i wish i had thought of that that is far out, now think how you would feel if you were the trend setter and people were saying how did he do that? just my .02 good luck, good to see some on think out of the box and customize a long step. rock on
