Re: Pics of 72Ironmikes 68 short bed

If I could have a truck built anyway I wanted it, I think that's what it would look like finished. Only change would be shaved markers. Beautiful.

Super sweet truck. My guess for your grille accent question is:if it was solid paint-silver.If it had two-tone(white accent color)-white.
Silver was the wheel and painted trim (bumpers/hubcaps/mirrors)color.

Joe, you're right factory silver face 68's do exist but seem to be more uncommon.

I have really never fugured out a hard and fast rule for silver vs white faced 68's either. I the best I can tell, painted grill inserts on very base trucks may have gotten you a silver/gray face and chrome grill inserts with the extra hood/fender lip crome trim may have gotten you white face.

I've seen VERY basic 68's with no options with chrome grill trim/white face grills and VERY basic 68's with painted grill trim/silver face grills.

I wonder if they may have changed the way they do the 68 grills on the base trucks during the 68 model run. Also, I think someone here a while ago(Longhornmail?) found evidence of a dealer-install grill trim kit upgrade for the 68's so that may explain how some basic 68's ended up with the full chrome treatment on the grill.
