Help!! Difference in 4 speed Bells

Is there a difference in a 292 6cyl 4 speed bell and a 350 V8 4 speed bell for a 2wd truck? I have the flywheel hitting the bell when I converted to a 91 LT1 350 crate motor for my 69 C10. Any help will be appreciated.

Doesn't seem like there would be, but I'm no expert on this truck stuff.

Not sure. You probably had a 168 tooth flywheel on your 292, but the later set-up used a 153 tooth (smaller diameter) flywheel. Try to use the flywheel that would have come with the later motor and trans.

Re: Help!! Difference in 4 speed Bells

You need to assure that the tooth count of the 292 flywheel was the same as your new 350 flywheel is, either 153 or 168.

Coincidentally, I just swapped this same swap, twice, in the last two weeks in my own truck, 292 to 350, then back to 292. Same bellhousing for all of them.

I then took the 4 speed out and went automatic trans. It was a busy week.

Tx Firefighter, just out of curiosity do you use standard nuts and bolts or just
hold everything together with wingnuts seeing as how it only has to hold for a
day or two.....
