Re: What did you get done?

well, over the past couple of weeks, I have been trying to put my new stereo system together.
Going with a "budget" system, as I don't have $ to spare with 3 kids
I went with a decent panasonic head unit, w/ ipod control. I had to buy a new amp...my old alpine 3555 still works but my punch 150hd died and can't be fixed, so I bought a soundstream 5 channel. I went down to a stereo shop in town, had them make be a box that would fit behind my seat with the seat all the back. I'm putting 4 8" punch woofers, they only had 3 at the time, so I gotta wait on #4.
I went ahead and bought some alphasonic 5.25 & 6.5" component mids waiting for them to arrive., I know not the best but they are decent for the $. Also some qlogic kick panels. I ended up mounting the amp under my seat, only to realize, I need thicker mdf, I used 5/8 and it bows a little, so I'm tearing it out and putting 3/4, should be better. The only hard part is I keep taking the bench seat in and out, and I said f% it, leave it out til the weekend until I can get it done right, maybe my brother in law can come give me a hand. It's hard doing stuff by your self sometimes
I took the rear 4x10 speaker brackets off, and I can get the 6.5" to work if I take the plastic grill off and make a plate with some 3/4 mdf. Should work out.
I can't wait to hear it, getting jumpy. This will be my last project for awhile, probably until next spring, as the funds are long gone for this year.
I'll take a pic or two of the end result.

Re: What did you get done?

I re-wired all of my stereo, got it all concealed under the ...what are those called? The things that go over the pillars. Anyways, it looks good now, no wires going across the floorboard and up into the dash.
