Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

I have to get in on this too... the bodyshop I worked at and learned all about the resto tricks n such, and all about the general (did a 68 chevelle ss396, 67 427/390 vette, 68 & 69 Z28's, 71 LT1 vette, etc.) AND learned about the way things were in the late 60's and 70's cuz theats the era all the guys that hung out there were from.. This stuff has been froever burned in my brain, and even my mom says I was born 20 years too late!!! nothin to me is cooler than a set of white block tires on an older car/truck body, along with a old sun tach (not the super tach II's please unless it has the OLD sun logo) and a three spoke stainless vette/camaro wheel on the column... my personal opinion is... soap box moment.... bf goodies still look the best, michelins would be ok (dman xpensive though), uniroyals Tigger paws arent bad (came OEM on 76-81 z28's and T/A's), coopers are cool.... well anyway, some of the generic tires letter just dont quite look right... but if you like em and they are on your runner, keep em clean and make it any way you like... ONE last thing, Ive got a set of 16.5x9.5 stellies for a 3.4 ton project of the future and I think i will go blackwall out on those... well back to preping for my class tomorrow...

I run whitewalls now, probably white letter or blacked out sometime in 2010 when I wear them down enough to replace.

The first 36 deal with things you shouldn't say in front of a woman, unless you want to get shot

Why is everyone photoshopping my picture

This is a real pic by the way, I didn't add that to the tire.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

I like white letters out on 4X4s...on hot rods I prefer black walls... on daily drivers plain ol cars, mini vans grocery getter whatever.. etc, I like either black walls or sometimes white walls.
We have Pro Comp A/Ts on my wifes Montero Sport..black walls out . My tire guy really wanted me to put white letters out. I told him to take $100.00 off the tires & I'll advertise for ProComp LOL.
My truck has BFG Radial T/As( only because BFG is the only company that makes a 285/70/15) Im not a BFG fan. I have black walls out on it... I like the drag race look. drag cars dont run white letters....generally
My work van has Brdgestone Duelers...again black walls out. just my 2 cents. John

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

I think there should be another rule about car batterys. If you got a really sharp ride..one that you show....If you bought your battery @ WalMart, or Autozone etc. & have some odd ball brand battery...it really stands out.
I was at a show this last Saturday & there was a Beutiful black Road Runner Convertable, 383, 4-speed, nice detail everywhere. Standing out like a sore thumb was an Autozone Battery. Id think with a car like that youd have a Mopar.. or Interstae or Optima. not Autozone....or atleast cover the fugly thing up LOL

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

I just went to the bathromm for a sit down. While I was in there I was thinking about this. Its kinda like designer clothing I think. here is what I mean.
I totally agree running white letter out on off brand tires is cheesy, tacky, & rather redneck. I even run name brand tires black walls out. thats just me.
You could compare us car( truck guys) to preppy yuppy peolpe with there clothes. You seee people wearing clothes clearly displaying Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie, Levis, etc. Or work Clothes proudly showing a Carhart or Dickies tag.. etc.
But, you can clearly tell what kind of a person would be weraing a shirt with " Fadded Glory" or another Walmart or Kmart brand as part of its design.
Or kids with there car stereos. They sometimes have there favorite brands displayed, "Kicker", "Sony" whatever....you dont see "Craig" or "Audiovoxxxx" LOL
How about off brand performance parts...Summit valve covers or Proform anything screams cheap...Id rather have plain unlettered valve covers than one showing a store brand. just my 2 cents worth. John

Hey Midwestburner - that copper & white 72 was sitting for sale about 2 blocks from my house at the Kent Chevy dealership. Nice !!!!! truck. Congrats.

My vote: like it really matters .... run 'em how you like 'em. THAT ought to be the "manlaw."
