Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
They are called 41 40 offroad, They are 17x10. I bought them at les schwab in town. They are so easy to keep clean. I'm still waiting for the front to settle, If you look just right the front tires sit a little far forward. They told me it would settle out. I hope!!!!

Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
I did see that.Heck, alot of guys move them forward for clearance(mostly on`Yotas,I believe). Now,if they`ll settle, will you figure that in to your front shaft length?(a bit?)What`s it gonna take to settle those springs? Can we get a close-up of a wheel? One more question...what size and brand tires are those?( 2 Qs in one)

Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
Looks good to me. You could always move your front spring center pins if they don't settle enough and the axle being forward bugs you. That or a ORD Zero Rate would shift it back. Will your front driveshaft handle the angle it is at?

Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
Why on God's green earth would you need 8" for 37" tires? Although honestly, it looks like your wheels are a bit fwd in the openings. Are you using stock spring mount locations?
I had my 70 LWB springs re-arched and 2" add a leaf, and with the slightest bit of contouring, 35" tires should be no problem. for 37" tires, a 6" lift should be plenty. There is one spot on the front of the front wheel opening where the edge comes off the radius to make a tangent line straight down. If you form that to continue the curve, you could probably do it with a 4" lift, and probably have room to spare without doing anything really noticable. Less cool, but easier would be to remove the bottom 2" of the lower fender from the wheel opening fwd to the bumper. Does anyone have pix of lift/tire combos? Particularly front wheel closeups?

Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
I figured out why the wheels are forward, Superlift put the shims on bakwards! So the springs need to do the flip flop.

*37" tires require that much lift to clear factory sheetmetal if you want full range of articulation. *35" will rub a bit with 6" lift on one off my`72s and that`s just on road driving.I have 37s I`ll run,but I know I`ll need to be careful. *Most guys don`t like to go hackin`up fenders, unless it`s a dedicated trail rig. *There`s a "Sticky" @ the top to answer your last question.Check it out. *I`ve run 37" rubber with a 4" lift.I cut both ends of the front wells and the leading edge off the rear well.

Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
I think the front fender opening can be re-contoured w/out hacking, but I know you were just using a figure of speech.

Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
Hacking, aka:altering.Yeah, proper metal working techniques hardly qualify as hacking.
Jason.I have 10" rims and Ez-Ride springs.I`ve heard them lightly rub cutting into an uphill turn-out.I`ll be running 37s with care. Are you talking about with a motor installed and driving or as it is,now?

Re: 1972 8"lift I got questions?????
Tire width rim width and size is all facters in it and the look you want. I'm sick of guys judging everybodys lifts and etc. It's all in the owners choice.I put 8" because I use this truck to go get fire wood cutting and I take it hunting in some places guys would not take a jeep! But I love this truck I don't want to bash on it. I would love to restore it someday, since I'm the 2nd owner!!

Putting add-a-leafs on rearched springs would no doubt allow for 35's cause your overall flex is going to be minimal with that set up. |

OK,so it`s a custom flip-flop fade-out paint job with black primer over the faded blue up front and faded blue over the black primer in the rear. Now I dig it!
