Re: Who makes bigger front discs?

You would think someone would be making a kit that uses the factory spindle with a rotor, caliper and bracket where you could put big brakes on the front of one of our trucks without haveing to spend 2 grand. How much different are chevells spindles than what we have?

That is what I am talking about, if you could make that work or if they sold a kit for out trucks for that price I would rip their arm off buying some.

My thoughts exactly.

The Baer set-up uses a larger diameter rotor that's been redrilled to 5x5 pattern & their standard PBR 2-piston calipers (aka vette calipers). But.... I really don't like the drilled rotors. There's no need for them in my application & I don't care for the 'status look'. I'm waiting to get a quote from a source for the kit (GT-Plus).

I also looked @ the SSBC set-up. I like the look of this kit because to me it appears more 'factory' appearing w/the exception of the gas-slotting (which again I could do w/o). But..... $2400 for the kit w/2" drop spindles & $2K w/o drop spindles . . . ...... that's freakin' steep. And WTF..... $400 price difference for a pair of drop spindles???????

They couldn't get them any cheaper than a regular 'Joe'?? Maybe I should call SSBC & tell them Summit offers better pricing on spindles .

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

To me they are sticking it to use and not giving us any lube while doing it. Their is no way in h?ll I will pay 2 + grand for $600 worth of parts if it cost that much and I know it doesn't. There are several kits on ebay for gm cars for less than $800 but it would be a snowballs chance in h?ll you will find a kit like that for our trucks anytime soon. Do the folks that make these kits not realize that there are a butt load of 87 down trucks that we are building and wish for the same upgrades as the car guys have? Oh well, I guess and good luck Scoti and keep us posted on what you dig up.

They are sticking it to us all right! I also think that the folks making these kits DO realize there is a butt load of 87 down trucks thats why they charge out the ass for a kit. I was looking at the willwood calipers myself and also need some rotors. Another place to check for kits is in the 4x4 world , they got to stop them big tires too. I picked up a magazine the other day and found 3 different kits for older Chevy's , dont remember the brands though.
