suspension questions
I haven't posted on here in a long time, but I have my 71 GMC running and on the road. I have a 363hp/432 lb.ft. 383 stroker in it with a close ratio muncie M21 with 12 bolt, with a 3.37 gear. I want to drag race the truck to get a baseline before I go any further.
here's the issue. I have never even dropped the clutch with the motor revved because the truck hops when I roll in the throttle in first. I have one leaf removed (previous owner), and I think this is causing axle rap. If I was to put my slicks on the truck, assuming it hooks, will it want to hop? What would be my best option if this does not work? I am wondering if I should order new lowered leafs or switch to the coil rear? Which is less likely to hop? |

Re: suspension questions
The coil set up has real long trailing arms, which prevent this from happening, this is one of the things that makes it a kick ass set up.
Slicks would make the problem real bad... to where you break parts. Adding a leaf may help, but I can't really say yeah or no. If I'm not mistaken, the axle is under the leafs, so I doubt you could go with regular traction bars. |
