Re: 4 core radiator and thermostat...

Funny you should mention them, a guy at work mentioned them too...

I might mock up my cooler and drive over there.

I think I've got most everything figured out

Re: 4 core radiator and thermostat...

I just added one to my truck today. Not to bad of a job to do. I got it from advanced auto. I also have a problem with my truck running the temp up while I'm running the A/C. I have a 4 core radiator as well and cant seem to keep it cool when I'm in stop and go traffic. Once I get it out on the intersate as long as the traffic is flowing it does seem to run at about 185. I am thinking of going with a 160 degree thermo in mine to see if it helps me some.

What fan and shroud set up do you have on your truck? Sounds like an airflow problem at slow speeds.

stock fan,no clutch, stock shroud. I noticed this situation after adding the heater control valve back into the system. I think I have it connected wrong.not sure if it matters though.

Re: 4 core radiator and thermostat...

I put the cooler on yesterday, unfortunately, I won't be able to get to the lines for a week or two, I'm leaving for NY in a couple days. You can't see it at all under the truck. It was a pain to get it level because of the low hump in the middle of the crossmember. I put it as far to the driverside as I could to leave room for the lines. They'll run between the crossmember and the radiator...everything is right there! This is the one that has the two inlet/outlet on the same side.

Before you added it, some heat was probably being let off by running through the heater core, but now that you have a valve that closes it, nothing can run thought it.
