that red rs/ss camaro in the magazine atricle is a '68 also... the front park lamps are anyway, but it doesnt have maker lamps on the fenders??? i love prototype cars from back then, its so cool to look at them in the works

The camaros in the pics are '67s..No sidemarkers, and vent windows.67s had the vent windows,'68s didn't.The seats (in the truck) if they were from a camaro would have to be from a '69 camaro,if any,the 67-68 camaros had low back seats sort of like the truck buckets.

Re: Camaro grill pickup update on the update! Best yet!

I just went back and looked at the Camaros again. The vent windows were 67 only, but who knows with concept cars. Also noticed that the red Camaro has split bumpers front and back. The yellow Camaro doesn't appear to have a front bumper at all.

63-67 vette split front bumper, 68-72 vette split rear bumper. rear spoiler styled like a 68 vette. Very interesting.

For those who can't see the pics, use Internet Explorer for your web browser. Firefox won't load them.

The Camaros still exist so there is a remote possiblity the truck might still be around. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=84324

Playing around a little more! This is my dream truck!!

P.S. Shock_Me, tell your brother I'll give his wheels back soon. I figured since SactoJim borrowed them, he wouldn't mind me using them too!

Re: Camaro grill pickup update on the update! Best yet!

There used to be a Pro-Street truck in our area (North Texas) about 15-20 years ago that was a 71-72, it had a 69 RS grill grafted into it...the concealed headlights even worked! I've always wondered what happened to that truck, it was very unique, and very well built! Was full tube chasis, with LWB and a flush polished aluminum bed cover that extended out into a big aluminum wing on the back....real low, long, and fast. The truck was honestly way ahead of it's time....resembled what some of the Pro-Mods look like these days. I remember it had a personalized plate that said "Z-Truck"...was some sort of custom red/blue paint job, and I had heard was not just for show...was said to run lower 9's...fast for today, but really fast by those days standards.

My guess is they are in a museum or a private collection. And I ferget the story on the red one that looks like a vette but that is what they wanted to look like a vette with the camaro appeal hell ill ask dad he was there.

after looking closer, the camaros are definately 67's but, they have 68 stripes for sure, atleast the red one does. the 67 stripes just have the bumble bee stripe on the front, and then the 68's had them going down the side... and then in 69 they had the hockey stripe.

at first i thought the front marker lights below the front bumper were 68 only, but i guess since they have the hideaway headlights they have them down there.

whats funny is it looks like a 68 corvette, obdviously borrowed from the '67 corvette concept car that was supposed to come out in '67 but wasnt introduced until '68... very cool to see all this "in the works" type of stuff.

Re: Camaro grill pickup update on the update! Best yet!

I have a friend of mine who works for GM, he has a dream job of the care and upkeep of concept and show vehicles. GM never sells any of these, so if this was a GM picture, it is in storage at a GM facility somewhere or it has been demolished and sent to the scrap yard (please say it isn't so). He is checking all of his resources to find out if it is still around and where they have it stored at.
