Re: Wing window glass removal

They actually make an auto glass removal tool for that, but its probably not cheap. Its kind of a glass installer tool only.Originally the glass was held in with a rubber-clothlike material and when you replace them you just kind of drive it in with a rubber mallet. Alot of installers now days just glue them in with urethane.A local glass shop could probably hook you up for a reasonable price.I like to do stuff myself,so you dont have to fix someones mistake.Good luck.

Re: Wing window glass removal

Put mine in a vise between two soft pieces of pine. Used a screwdriver and a hammer to gently force the frame from around the firmly held glass. It worked. A miracle I'm still not picking up the pieces!

Re: Wing window glass removal

Your vent windows are held in with a product called "Everseal". As an Autoglass Installer for 18 years now I would recommend just run it over to a local glass shop and have one of their guys put it in for you. In my shop I wouldn't charge you for that. One of those courtesy things.Everseal comes in several different sizes,(thickness) it is important to choose the right size. If you glue, either urethane or silicone, that really messes up any future installs you might have to do.

Shame I don't live in Alaska, but that sounds like some sage advise coming from one with experience. I tend to follow those, I'll contact the local shop. This place rocks for advise...J.

BTW, how much snow is on the ground up there rite now
