Don't make this in to a RARE topic. I don't see how blocks of wood are rare, I can get them in aftermarket from many suppliers in my area. Now hammers those are hard to find and removable and reusable too.

And I apologize to Green Machine. You were asking a legitimate question, sometimes my (and others apparently ) love of sarcasm gets in the way! As others have said, while the shields are not absolutely necessary, they do serve a purpose.

Hey, I might be lazy, but I'm not that lazy ! Actually have a parts truck with 2 good ones on there but then I have drive 5 miles to get to it, then crawl thru the weeds, and jack it up. Then remove 8 rusty lugnuts, and some stuck caliper bolts, then I get to play with some greasy old wheel bearings just to get to it. I'm just not motivated to do that right now
