Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

First off I want to apologize to Dawn, Clyde, her daughters and everyone else here for what a selfish person I have been. I have seen this post more than once and passed it up simply because it seemed like "Too much" to read.

Well, I just sat down and read every post on this thread and I am literally kicking myself in the face for passing this up before. I feel so stupid for missing the auction. I just added money to my Paypal and when it clears I will send it to Tdave00 ASAP to support the build of the '67.

I want to say to Dawn - You are a very brave woman and I admire how hard you work for your mother, your daughters and yourself. I wish there were more strong people like yourself in this world.

I want to say to the Board Members - You all are very inspiring and generous people and I am proud to be a part of this Board. I promise to take a more active part to help people other than myself on this site.

Cort,

I am sure alot of people have passed on this thread for different reasons, but thanks for taking the time to read it and get involved. It doesn't matter when you did something, but that you did something. Thanks.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

My son and I are about to leave to take Dawn the money you guys donated. We are gonna stay the night in Knoxville and go to her house tomorrow morning. I almost called the trip off because we couldn't find gas here, but I finally found some . I called my cousin in Knoxville and she says there's plenty of gas there and cheap, so we are gonna head that way. I'll keep you guys updated.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

Here's an email I just got from Dawn. I posted the pictures in the build thread.

Dear Trai:
We grabbed the camera as they loaded Ol' Girl on the trailer. I don't know why the pictures blurred so badly, but i wanted you to have them anyway. Again, ya'll have no idea how much all this means to me. You know, I was pretty puzzled that my grandson(Aaron) was acting up yesterday, but I attributed his behavior mostly to all the excitement, plus he hadn't been feeling well anyway. When the other guys got here and started to get the truck ready to go on the trailer, he got worse. He was shooting me little stares when i tried to make eye contact with him, and the thing that bothered me the most was that he didn't want to spend the night with me because he usually spends 7 nights a week here. At 7:30 this morning, I heard a little knock at my door. He came in and sat in my chair with me and just started sobbing. Even though he's only 4 he remembers so many detailed things about his Paw-Paw! His father abandoned them before he was born and Clyde naturally stepped in. They were inseperable. It took me forever to make him understand that I had to sell some of the trucks, but I promised I would NEVER sell Ol' Girl because she was special and she was ours to keep for ever and ever! God love him, he finally understood that and then what does he see yesterday? He sees that all of the other trucks are still here and a bunch of guys are taking OUR truck away!! We talked about it for a couple of hours and I think he understands. It would surely help if you guys could send us a picture now and then of her so I could reassure him that she's coming back to us.
One more thing before I let you go... my girls told me they had tried to give both you, and Rick a "Couple of dollars" they had saved to help on gas but that neither of you would take it so they went to the grocery store after everyone had gone last night. Well, they came back with a lot more than a couple of dollars worth of stuff, but their not talking. I don't know what went on there but if any of ya'll "padded" their gas fund, thank you. Please stay safe, and keep in touch.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=270278803411

The auction is now at $25.99 with 9 days and 3 hours to go!

OK Guys and Gals...to make this a little more interesting here is what I am going to do. Whoever wins this auction I will pay for one full year of membership to this site. So it looks like this...you win the magazine and I will throw in one year of membership to this fine site. How is that for incentive.
Sooooo here is what we have for a small donation: 1 Classic Truck Magazine, 52 weeks or 1 year whichever comes first of free membership to this fine site, you get the priviledge of knowing there is only one winner and that is you, you get the honor of knowing you are prying a prized magazine out of my hands...but most of all you are helping a neighbor in time of need. Ok...lets put the pedal to the metal!!!

I need new glasses. I meant to say it's at $26.99 with 9 days and 1 hour to go.

I tried taking video with my digital camera, and thought I had, but I had left the memory card at home. So sorry about that guys.

Yes, she was overwhelmed. She almost wouldn't take the check. Woody finally had to make her take it. She cried off and on the whole time we were there. Her daughters were so touched, and one kept saying I didn't know there were still people out there like you. I told her there are a bunch of us.

You can make that 3.5 hours. That's what it takes me to get to Dawns . I am 30-40 mins close to Woodys though.
