Need Ideas - Parts Storage

Like a lot of others, I've gathered a sizable pile of old truck parts and almost a dozen parts vehicles - trucks/burbs & blazers.

I've always had this "dream" if I ever had the space, to store truck parts according to their location on our trucks, basically start by stocking the bumper and grill parts on one end and finish up with tail-lights a gates on the other.

Not sure if this would be an 'efficient' way to do it or not.

*So I'm asking for your storage ideas and/or pics.

The garage I'm building will have and attic storage space that's 12ft wide x 8ft high x 22ft long, so yeah, I finally have some room for truck parts.

Re: Need Ideas - Parts Storage

Good luck on your storage of parts. Offhand I would suggest that the space is too small!

I stumbled in to a "3 bin" system that does not work well, (parts can be in 1 of 3 places). If I cannot find a part in the three storage locations then I just buy a new one. Like magic I am able to find the part that I needed after buying the part.

I am using two barns, a coup, and two sheds for storage. Currently I am trying to reorganize for the 4th time. The main problem that I run into is what category to put parts into as a typicl vehicle has approximately 12,000 parts.

Good luck!

Jim

Re: Need Ideas - Parts Storage

I build shelves and use bins for smaller stuff.I just put things where they fit and if I think I`ll need something sooner I have it more accessible.I have core parts like starters, alts, carbs, compressors, and brackets more to the back along the wall and on narrower shelves.

Brad, what size tires are you running, and how much/how did you lower your truck? It sits PERFECTLY.

leddzepp.... he is running a 4/5 setup. Check out his lime green signature and it has a few things listed about it.
