My roommate has basically the same truck you are considering. It's been a great truck. Fuel economy at 14 or 15 mpg unloaded 10 or 11 loaded. If you do alot of heavy towing I'd spring for a duramax if your pocketbook can stand it, otherwise a 1500 might save you a little in fuel if you're not planning on working it too hard.
