Stock Fan Clutch Info. Needed
Got a couple questions regarding stock fan clutches...
1. Did all our trucks come stock w/fan clutches...or maybe just AC trucks? 2. What diameter fan & how many blades is recommended for an AC truck w/stock shroud? I will be putting in a Vintage Air system and just realized that the fan I just sent to the powder-coaters is probably not gonna work....as it is a clutchless type.... Thanks in advance! Dan

Re: Stock Fan Clutch Info. Needed
My '72 GMC, 402, with A/C has a clutch fan.
The fan is approximately 18" in diameter, with 6 blades, in a factory shroud. I'm afraid I can't do much better than that right now. It's dark, after midnight, I was reading the tape measure while holding a flashlight, & it's sprinkling (fortunately, not raining). If I can help you later on, after sunrise, just give me a holler & I'll go back & better look @ things for you.

Re: Stock Fan Clutch Info. Needed
A/C trucks all came with the clutch fans. Mine is a 7 blade that measures 17.5" across from blade tip to tip.
Make sure the blades aren't bent at all or you will be buying water pumps on a regular bases.

My '72 w/factory air has a 7-blade fan.... iirc, it's about 18" diameter. I'll try to remember to check it after the sun comes up, if there's not too much snow on the hood...
