Re: what would you guys do?

i have some very bad and frustrating news:

driving home from my league softball game last night i give it about 3/4 throttle right when i hit second gear and boom!!!! loud thud. truck continue to drive in 3 and 4 gear then i get to a light and stop. i let of the brake to go and there is a terrible vibration under the truck and it wont move, just keeps revving. i push it to a gas station and the only gear that works is reverse. reverse works for about 20 seconds then it starts to rev again. if i shut the engine off and turn on about a minute later i have reverse again and so on. so, i drove home in reverse with my dad behind me, only a few blocks. smelled the tranny fluid which was just added 3 weeks ago, it is the color of engine oil and smells slightly burnt. almost 100 percent certain i need a new transmission.

Wonder if the guy with the blazer will still trade....

Re: what would you guys do?

That sucks to hear about your truck's transmission issues, that stuff sucks. If your wife has a ride or you can borrow one from a friend, take your stock trans out, find a good local trans shop and have them rebuild it. It's usually cheaper than a junkyard one and most good places will warranty one they rebuild. I've been keeping up with your blazer build and im sure you could take the trans out and put it back in no problem, that and a $500-$700 and you'll have your truck on the road quick.

Keep your truck!

Re: what would you guys do?

Sorry to hear about your transmission.

As nice as your pickup is, I'd like to see that trade go through. That K5 is just one wrong owner away from being a hacked POS. As it sits now it would not take much at all to make a really nice driver out of it.

Re: what would you guys do?

If you can't keep your present ride I'd say pass on the Blazer. The cab has discrepancies as previously stated, and the engine has mismatched plug wires and shows a flair for show pieces such as that braided radiator hose straight out of Disneyland. I would be very wary of it for on reliability standpoint compared to your ride. If you can get them both, that might be the way to go. I'm underimpressed with the grille also, but some might think it's cool. You will need room for the little darling, and the front seat of a PU truck isn't the safest thing, so you have decisions to make. Brighter side, if you get a Blazer you can have some more kids. Some folks have all the luck. Sounds like yours just went from OK to crap with the trannie. That's what Craigslist is for, see if you can score a 700R there I'm always seeing them used from $150 up here in Bawlimer Merylyn. They ain't that hard to change, get the torque converter too if you get one.

Re: what would you guys do?

Even with the blown trans, I still wouldn't trade. For a daily driver its hard to beat fuel injection and working A/C. I don't have kids, but I would think a midsize car (like a Grand Prix, Accord, whatever) would be a good family truckster. Cralling into the back seat of any two door to get to car seat sucks. My DD right now is a '95 Saturn sl2. Beat to crap, but it gets good mpg, runs great and I don't have to drive my '83 in the snow/salt.
Just my opinion though.
