Re: Need opinions on stance
These trucks were designed from the factory with a 'rake". It will handle better that way... honest. You might wish to talk to an alignment expert thats been around for awhile... they will back me up on this.

Re: Need opinions on stance
I know they were designed to have a rake from the factory, but isn't that to compensate for potential load in the back? I can't imagine the rake would help the handling, all you're doing is frontloading a front-heavy vehicle a little more - but maybe they are designed to drive with a rake. I just don't know what the advantage would be if you're not driving around with a lot of weight in the back.

The tires are 275/60R15 all around. They are brand new so it will be a while before new tire sizes.

Re: Need opinions on stance
Thanks for the comparison, I guess I might try for somewhere between the two. These springs have been on for only about a month will it take them awhile to settle? Longer than the front ones? Thanks everyone for the feedback. The last thing I want is "redneck rake"!

Re: Need opinions on stance
It looks good as is, but if you did drop it more, I'd just go another 1" in the back. Its a good looking ride, whatever you do!

Re: Need opinions on stance
no joke there - my old '92 C1500 started out 3/4, one year later was a 4/6 and ended up being a 5/7 later on...

Re: Need opinions on stance
Hey Pokey,
Love the second pic. I was going to suggest a little larger tire in the back, and the 2" block drop, but I didn't know the tire size. A little rake is always good. Not sure what my drop is, I did it really old school years ago. Probably around 4/6, running 235/60 front and 275/60 back, and get lots of positive comments on how it sits. But mine is a long box so it sits a little different. I really need to get a picture up. Didn't take any this summer, and the truck is now up on the stands and covered. |

Re: Need opinions on stance
Heres mine with a 5/6 drop. It has 275/60/15 in the rear and 255/60/15 in th front. It sits about an inch higher in the back then the front.

Re: Need opinions on stance
Yeah, sad but true, but you don't have to rub it in. Vancouver gets milder weather than we do in the interior of BC. We are just north of the Idaho border in the Rocky Mountains. A couple of small snow dumps, but nothing has stuck, but the beast gets parked usually the end of November until March. Hmm, that is really depressing. Guess that gives me time to pick away at it.
Looking at Hart_Rods Chevy, the Drag Lites do look really good. I was considering swapping out my rallies for some Pro Stars. They really suit these styles too. |
