Re: What did you get done 3/7/10 springs coming edition

Scored pretty well at the pull it yourself wrecking yard.

Found a C4C victim 87 TBI truck with dual tanks. Grabbed the senders, pumps, switching valve and all the fuel lines & wiring connecting them to the front. Also got the NP208 transfer case from it that was already on the ground as someone else just wanted the trans.

Scored a Goodwrench reman 4-bolt tail housing 4L60E trans out of a 93 with a Vortec V-6 that also had a new converter in it with a GM stall rating of 2025 rpm. Bolts right up to the NP208.

Grabbed an almost perfect engine and under dash wire harness from a 4L60E TBI truck too. What a pain in the butt that was to get the under dash part out. It was worth it though because I snagged all three of the heater A/C actuators that commonly go out with the electronic controlled HVAC system in my Tahoe. They run from $80 to $130 each.

Out the door for under $180.

went to see the Zac Brown Band play, awesome concert except for them starting an hour late. stripped the parter sub down to get ready to go to scrap, and worked on the fuel tank and fuel lines on the crew. almost ready to start it up for the first time after cutting it in half.

Re: What did you get done 3/7/10 springs coming edition

My truck sat in the garage. Last weekend went on a little trip to the county to pick up some junk blasted 10 bucks in gas there and back 20 mile round trip lol. Thats the first time the truck has been on the highway in a year. Did a wire harness for my friends maxima and washed the bike in hope I can one day see warm enough weather to ride it again.

Let me know the verdict. Sounds like I will need a new gear set along with complete rebuild.

WOW! That is an amazing transformation. More pics please.

I spent the weekend working around the house. I started with boring stuff like getting the tires rotated on my DD. Then did some research for big brake kits.

My wife and sister-in-law decided I didn't have enough to do so they started a bathroom remodel project. They stripped the wallpaper, then assumed it was done. I spent the rest of the day patching small holes, and sanding drywall.

Sunday I had my yard crew over so I bounced back and forth between sanding drywall mud, and cleaning up my back yard. We trimmed all the Winter burn off, and bagged 20+ bags of debris.

In the meantime I pulled all the fixtures in the bathroom, painted a light fixture, and finished sanding. Then I sprayed texture on half of the room till I ran out. I finally finished the yard, so I cleaned up and went for supplies. I got the texture I needed and picked up the latest issue of Truckin Magazine.

I was pretty excited about my truck being used in the latest ad campaign for Ride Tech.LINK

I'll get more pics once I get the interior cleaned up a bit, she's a little rough.....also saving up for airbags and some Astro Supremes. Then I'll start on bodywork. Paint will be mid-late 60's style...lots of metalflake and some lace....

Yo! Completed rough body work to FRANKENTRUCK's driver's side rear quarter and filled the bullet hole,...I think I'm gonna miss that.
The rear quarter was damaged by cattle lying against the wheelless truck when they became spooked. FRANKENTRUCK resided in a cow pasture for over four years.
The panel took alot of straightening! Finish bodywork to that spot and passenger's front corner will complete bodywork (pics once I've completed that),...grey primer soon, and paint will come when possible.
Todd.

Installed a new throttle body on the 87 Sierra and put in new plugs. I forgot how much fun these 2wd swb trucks are.

Re: What did you get done 3/7/10 springs coming edition

Havent been messing with trucks much, so I havent been on here. Been building a 65 GTO since November. This thing is rusty, but 65 GTOs are kinda hard to find, its ok I dont fear rust. The goal is to have it drivable by May 5th, my father in laws birthday. Its my thank you to him for the help he has given me since I was medical'ed out of the USAF.

Started out like this.

Now it looks like this. All new floors, the quarters are almost patched, and I am starting on the window channels today. Body back on the frame next week and start the primer, filler, block sanding, with paint done by April 10th.

More pics of it here
I plan to work on the 76 this summer, it might actually get new sheet metal and a nice paint job to go along with a 6.0L swap.
