Re: interchangeable doors?
Sorry about that, been traveling last few weeks... The harness crosses from door-to-door under the dash. The relay is mounted to the firewall/dash near the transmission hump. I just followed the wire bundles from the door thru the front pillar and started disconnecting and cutting the clamps holding it in. Both ends have plug connectors as well as a plug connector at the relay. There was one additional black wire that went to ground, a yellow(?) switched power wire and an orange constant power wire that went to the main chasis harness that I had to cut. I think the relay is the same for all years. I have '85 Suburban doors on my '76 C-10. BTW, The relay has no connection to window operation - it's just for the locks. I spent half a day troubleshooting why the locks wouldn't pop. I looked at a few older posts on this board and found out that the relay shell has to be grounded. I grounded and they work perfectly. It's pretty much plug-n-play, just a few power connections and a ground.
Someone on Ebay has a harness with relay for $15 BIN. I think that's a steal cause it's kind of a bear to get it out, not to mention that the relay is around $40 by itselfHere's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/73-87...item230666073c Last edited by soule64; 04-20-2010 at 02:54 PM.
