Re: Cherry bomb extremes
I aint sure I think the bigger pipes might make it louder and deeper, the truck had a 3 inch single in and dual 2.5's out and now has 2.5's all around but duals.
However my 88 with the summit race chambered mufflers, is louder now then when I had the same mufflers on my monte carlo, it had like 2-1/4 outside dia. pipes, like 2-1/8 or less inside dia. However I had gutted cats on it, and long tubes, on the 88 truck i got no cats at all and shorties, but had manifolds on it, the headers made it louder and deeper.

do not run straight headers ubnless you have a 400hp+ engine to back the bark if u know what i mean.... I had 2 1/2ft 3in /w/ dumps and it was irritating. Last edited by spinem; 06-26-2010 at 04:52 AM. |

Re: Cherry bomb extremes
I can speak with authority since 1. am a Redneck and 2. I have glasspacks. (but not Cherry Bombs) Mine have a pretty bird on the side. Anyway, 2.5 is as large as I would go with the exhaust piping. Any larger and you'll actually loose some power. Actually 2 1/4 would be large enough for your engine.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes
I like my Flowtech Glass packs. I think they sounds sweet lol. 2.5" piping and 4" tips add some deep tone to it.
It's all about what you like. Hell, when you get old and senile enough they all sound the same!

Re: Cherry bomb extremes
oh yea I'm rednecked as hell but I like glasspacks myself, but I like the cherry bomb extremes better then anything other then open headers with no pipes.
