Remember, this only a possibility, but unless you know who originally purchased your truck brand new, I say there is a possibility that it was probably traded in for a new vehicle in a dealership in 72 or 73. It might have been issued new plates to the new owner. Remember this is just my guess. My other guess is it probably had at one time a "H" or a "J" at the end of the black plate, most 71's did.
