i remember having a similar problem..
i used a chain. i hookd it to the jack and then up to the frame and back again to the jack. so as i jacked up the lower control arm, the chain held the rest of the truck from raising up and it held itself inplace and therefore compressing the coil. also put a strap on that coil, cuz that thing can fly outta there and a strap will at least limit to where it flys.

be very careful where u hook up the chain on the truck and make sure u dont pinch any brake lines...
