late model wheels on an 86

Will these 16" wheels fit on a 86 4x4? I found a good deal on some 90's model alum 6 lug wheels with new nittos that I would love to have, mainly for the tires but would run the wheels if they would work. I know i would have to modify the front caps for the hubs but is there anything else i'm missing?

if its the same lug pattern they should match up, but you will have to get new lug nuts

Measure the center holes to ensure that they will fit over your hubs before you buy. I know that web page says they will fit, but I recall the newer trucks having a smaller center hole than our square bodies. Let us know if they fit.

that's what I thought and for the front you will have to open it through the wheel for the hub or does the center cap come off

Re: late model wheels on an 86

I'm pretty sure the offset is also different and the newer wheels have an extra inch of back spacing, I'm not 100% on this though.

Re: late model wheels on an 86

I have tryed this on a 4x4. The offset is a little off so they are tucked too far in and the fronts will not go on over the hub.

Re: late model wheels on an 86

So your saying the wheel won't fit up to the hub because of the offset correct. That is a problem.

Re: late model wheels on an 86

The center hub hole is too small.. you would have to machine it out to make it work.

Re: late model wheels on an 86

no I was saying the front hub will not fit threw the hole in the rim AND the offset is off. but can be corrected with spacers. I dont know what you would do about the hub fitting the hole tho.
