what bumper are you trying to use?60-62 or 63-66. you can only use the 63-66 bumper on a 64

My truck is a 65 Step Side the bumper I bought is 60-66.
The Classic Industries Catalog shows the same bumper was used on step sides 60-66.

the bumpers change from 62-63 due to different frame width
the bolt centres on the inner bolts on a 62 rear bumper are 40". the bolt centres on a 63- should be about 32-34"

doesn't matter whether stepside or not the frames are the same frame63-66

my 64 gmc with leafs measures 34 in. outside frame to outside frame. sounds like your bed is from earlly model

Is it fleet or step? My frame measures the same.
