Re: Has anyone put a 95 or newer dash in a 73-87 truck?

If you need any of the backside parts, I have one I took out of a '99 Tahoe. The dash itself is screwed up, but ducts, etc. in the back are fine. I figure you might need some for testing, mods, etc., just let me know what you might need and they're yours for cost of shipping.

IMHO, you're a glutton for punishment!!!

Looks like I'll be able to fit it in there... the 85 air unit is still in there with plenty of room.
If you haven't reed any of my other threads I'll fill ya in, im putin a 97 vortex motor and tranny in my 85 crew cab. I don't have much money to spend on this project so instead of buying a painless wiring harness for a grand im swapping the wiring harness out of the 97 ... I think the only stuff I will have to splice in will be power window switches, door looks, and driving lights. Should be fun. I wish I could have put a 6.0 with a 5 speed but after looking for about a year and not being able to come up with the cash I decided to use the 97 as a donor.... don't worry the 97 will go to good use. I plan on putting a carbed 454 with a tb400 and turning it in to a 2wd. end plan will be a badass prerunner.

i wonder how difficult it would be to hook a ratchet mechanism from a ratchet to your window crank.. would be kind of a neat thing to see and if u left the direction lever it you could us it up and down without hitting them on the dash.. plus it would be one of a kind

That would be funny.. im sure it would get old after a while especially if it was a daily driver. But good idea if you had no other options.

That looks cool but too bad its the most problem plagued dash cluster GM ever used!!!
I am on my THIRD one in my 02 Tahoe.... I finally learned to repair them myself!!!!
