86 1/2 ton lwb to 1 ton dually
I got a decent 86 lwb recently. I picked up a decent set of used dually rear fenders today from the junk yard because I couldnt pass up the deal. That got me to thinking. I know I can bolt the 1ton front suspension onto my 1/2ton but what about the rear end? what all do I need to swap my 1/2 ton rear end to a 1/ton dually. I know the 1/2 ton frame is shorter and not as strong.. Will not be towing anything major and I want it static dropped. Do I need the springs/hangers/and complete rear end? or just the rear end?

Re: 86 1/2 ton lwb to 1 ton dually
removing the rivets will be a pain to remove out there best thing to do is have some strong blades and saw-za and cut the fram or find some one on here to ship you some

Yes, you can use your springs. all you need are the hangers from a 1ton and the dana70hd rear axle. As stated the rivits will need to be removed to get the hangers off of the frame. I use my grinder and put an x in the head then take a cold chisle and brake the rest of the head off. The rivit can be punched through the frame or you can beat a pry bar between the hanger and frame for removal. Your handers can then be bolted back on through the holes that the rivits were in.
