Re: Ordered my new 17 inch smoothies!!!
Man, I wish Willamette Wheel was still around. They could make damn near anything for about $50 a wheel.

Re: Ordered my new 17 inch smoothies!!!
JohnOStuff, do you have the poc info for your wheel guy? Your wheels look great and I may be looking for some 7-8 inch steelie disk brake wheels in a few months if I can't find any in the boneyards over in mojave.
As for Stockton - been there, done that, aint goin back. Sent my own original GM 15x8 vette rallies off to them for powder coat - when they came back, they weren't fully coated and were already starting to rust. Cost too much to mess with shipping them back for another half-way done job, so couldn't decide to get em re-done locally or just run with it as is. Ran with it as they were (rust was minor, but I kind of expected it to be covered up when I pay $85/wheel for pc...) and then i sold the car anyway. Lesson learned. I DID get some wheels (my truck's original 15x5.5 steelies) powder coated at Ship Point Machine in Hollywood, MD (local steel biz) and they did an absolutely incredible job. Not real cheap, but worth every penny to me - easy to work with, honest, and reliable. I don't know if they do mail order (I don't think so??) but figured I'd give them a plug. No relation, but used them on several different projects. Nice to have a good local shop to work with. But now I've moved back to CA, startin from scratch. At least there are a few more out here, but no matter - movin again in 4 months and my truck's not here anyway. (bummer - like a missing appendage). I've rambled enough. Will look the CO wheel guy up on the internet and see if I can find anything - thanks for posting those wheels. |

Hey Jocko, sorry I was out of town a few days - here is the link to Jim's website:
http://www.trudesignwheel.net/contact_info.html Good luck on the used stuff - I searched and came up with nothing then found Jim. I also talked with Pete Paulson - he has about anything you'd want in steel wheels too: http://www.petepaulsen.com/catalogof...S.htm#american |

Re: Ordered my new 17 inch smoothies!!!
Well I thought I would post up the final results. I just got the rear wheels back, I was excited, then I see that only one wheel showed up???? I call them another excuse about yada yada.., I really dont know what he told me this time. I think I just tuned hime out to stop from screaming at the guy and offering to remove his head from the dark place it was currently located due to the same old BS.
So the new wheels shows up and should be a six lug whoops wrong wheel. So I wait longer and I just got the last 6 lug rear wheel. SO I have them, they are not blasted , rusted, pitted, and have huge dings , hammer marks, as well covered in grime to the point the extra griding scale was stuck to the wheels, and really a huge mess. If I where not a shop with a massive blast cabinet I would have to have some one else fix the wheels before I could prime them. Extremely rough on the rears, the fronts looked great, fully blasted. Also I had to grind down the weld seam on the bead area as there was no way they would have sealed up as they where shipped.. So at this point I have them primed ( heavy fill primer to fill the marks in . I painted one and it looks good. So for any one that is looking to use stockton DO NOT USE THEM. Now for my real feelings, Extremely tired of dealing with Stockton,.. call after call, no return calls, and total BS lies time after time. This company ruins the pleasure of building a nice truck. As we all know how wheels effect the look. I hope some day to run into them at a event ... As well the biggest BS'R of the bunch is Frank.. the owner... I have to say that any one that is looking at there wheels go else find a set of used ones, anything but placing a order with them. They charged me the same day for my wheels and now 6 months or so later I got them. I wish I would have left my old wheels on there and left it alone. Oh well live and learn.. I have hopes that any one that is looking stay so far from these guys. There is no good deal with them , even free... LOL maybe for a project int he future and you dont own it yet maybe then the wheels will show up when you need them .. I will post up some pics of them once painted and on the truck.. Re: Ordered my new 17 inch smoothies!!!
wow. that's all i can say. you have more patience than I do. I've dealt with stockton also, and was not happy. But it was more difficult to return the wheels than to fix it myself. All I did was send them MY wheels (some original vette rallies I had on an impala - this was awhile ago and there were no local pc shops then round here) and I wanted to get them blasted and pc'ed. They came back with flash rust already on the spots that received no pc. Never again. Just say no (to Stockton). Makes you wonder how they are still in business. Maybe their business plan is to exhaust the country of 1st time customers and then close, because they sure must not have many repeat customers. Wow, that was 8 years ago and it still pisses me off to think about it....

Re: Ordered my new 17 inch smoothies!!!
Well There was not much I could do really, they had my money and that is that. Charge backs today are harder than you think. I own a shop and know how the system works. If the vendor is working to correct the transaction in any shape way or form you do not get your money back.
As for the wheels I am still not sure how they are going to ride, did not get into this on the last post. However when I spun them up on the balancer they have a fair amount of hop to them. Meaning they are not spinning on a true axis.. The rear took 2.5 oz which is a fair amount, however you can balance a egg but that does not mean it will roll smoothly... If the rim where a 15 you have more lee way as the tire is much taller not going to be that story with a 40 side wall 17 inch rim. The rims where to have a small indent as well to remove the chrome baby moon, there is none. SO to get the hub cap off I will end up marking up the rim and the cap. I am looking into some hard nylon rods or flats for wind shield installation. I have hopes they will do the job with minor damage to the surface of both items. This is my deal with them, maybe others have a better go round |

If someone else offered a similar wheel, I would not have used Stockton based on internet stories. Unfortunately, I didn't have much choice.

Re: Ordered my new 17 inch smoothies!!!
WOW!!!! Talk about taking the wind out of your sail........ Or should I say the fun out of your build!!!!! I won't deal with them after reading this post. I'm running a set of 8" vette rally's right now and have a set of stock steelies with thin white walls on deck. Sorry you went through all the hassle!!!!!!!!!

Re: Ordered my new 17 inch smoothies!!!
well the outer half of my wheel was ground never blasted so wavey is the understatement of this year so far the inner part was covered in grinding dust, raw, and had hammer marks on it?? WTF along with welding slag, etc.. Really over all a very poor deal. I do wish I could go back and order from some one else. From the time line to sending the wrong off set to the wrong wheels, .. But I am happy to say that I have the other three primed and ready for wet sanding then I get to paint them!!! Primer wise it took three coats of U pol heavy fill to take care of 90% of the marks the other just are what they are. After all it is a wheel.
