what a great way to start! no rust!!! I remember eying up a 68 camaro when I was around 10. it was yellow with black stripes and my old man looked at it and said,"son trust me when I tell you to stay away from rusty cars" Broke my heart, I just didnt understand! that was until I got my first 64 chevelle in highschool, and there was just enough floor to hold the nos bottle in the trunk, and I sort of began to understand that maybe just maybe he was on to something!! lol convinced me to sell that one, which I still regret because I wanted to rebuild it! yeah sure I did! stupid kid. but Im sure nos in highschool was not a common site in school parking lots during the late 80s early 90s!

Got to mess around in the garage for a bit today. I found quite a few spots where the powdercoated chassis, control arms, etc are scratched , etc... So, the chassis is now nearly totally stripped and it will wind up getting a thorough scuffing and painting. I wanted to leave it alone and go ahead and put it together but I know I will not be happy in the end if I do. That way, next time it gets scratched touch up will be alot easier!

Finally some more progress. I got the chassis touched up where it was scarred up from lord knows how many moves and changes of hands. Totally stripped everything off it, cleaned touched up, and reinstalled everything. Replaced all the grade 2 hardware with grade 8 stuff as well. Now that everything is back together it's time to move on to the cab!

Thanks Jonathan. I also traded some stuff around with Geoff and Jesse this weekend and wound up with the sway bar and brackets I needed for my 70. I dropped them off at Top Coat to get blasted and powder coated to match the chassis!

Been thinking alot about which wheels I want for this truck. I LOOOVE the wheels Superflysteiny used on the 72 Dropmember build and have been eyeing them for a long time. I just dont think I can swing that kinda cash for wheels though. Since I am building this to look relatively stock looking I was thinking about the 18 inch Rally Wheels too. I just got the new Classic Trucks mag and there is a 65 or 66 (something that bodystyle) which has the 18 inchers on it and they look so sweet. Very undecided at this point.

what about the eagle 225 wheels. Those look like high dollar billets and are a nice five spoke but they're relatively affordable and fit with minor clearancing on the front hub...

Looking good Josh! You have an amazing foundation for a cool truck. Did you lift the cab with an engine lift or did you gather up some of your friends?

Top Coat is great place, isn't it? I have invested a few dollars in them over the last few years.

Jonathan, I like the 225s but dont think they have the look I'm after for this truck. Wanting it to look retro.

Jesse, sorry I missed you guys Sunday. I just had my brother come over and we lifted it ourselves. Please let me know when you get a little extra time. I would love to take you up on filling in the two spots that needed repaired we talked about. Thansk again for the parts trade and I'm glad I could help you guys as well.

How did you go about cleaning your frame? Did you do it or have someone do it? Also, how did you paint it? Your frame looks like I hope my frame will eventually.
