Yea its better to have a bigger tank, and yes I sprayed the whole thing at once, but if your just doing panel by panel you'll be fine.

Re: Let's see pics of paintjobs done yourself...

First of all there are some really spectacular trucks on this thread.

Here’s my truck back in 1992 when it was first purchased, and in 1998 when I painted it PPG black lacquer. I didn’t bother painting the original GMC hood because it was bent. The Chevy hood was picked up a few months later:

And here’s how it looks today wearing John Deere Blitz Black enamel.

Re: Let's see pics of paintjobs done yourself...

Here are a few before and after shots of some other cars I’ve owned and painted over the years:

This was my high school car. The black paint job was my first. It turned out pretty nice but had a run on the front of the hood. The Bel Air windshield was my first glass installation.

I bought this 50 Plymouth right after Vietnam, and converted it into a 1949 and painted it a putrid grass green color with Standard Brands synthetic enamel (it was suppose to be Mustang Twilight Turquoise). The after photo is a Polaroid and doesn’t look near as horrible as the color did in real life. I wanted to paint it black but my ex-wife insisted on turquoise:

This was 54 Chevy #5, my last. It was an original owner car in cherry condition. The day I was in the hospital having back surgery my drunk brother in law smashed in the door which I promptly replaced a week after getting out of the hospital:

This 67 Chevelle was a California government car that ended up with a 350, 4 speed, 12 bolt rear end, and Jaguar XJ12L leather interior. The paint was catalyzed black acrylic enamel. I no longer remember the brand of paint.

And this 46 Ford was our last ride before purchasing our 1960 GMC. It had been a parts car for a restorer, but came back to life strong enough to serve us for 8 years covering 300,000 miles:

Sorry, I was out of town. Its a 60 gallon tank with a 7 1/2 HP compressor. My dessicant dryer eats up 2 HP though.

Re: Let's see pics of paintjobs done yourself...

the first pic is how the truck looked when i got it. the cab had already been painted (its very dirty in these pics) i painted the driver side of the box and tailgate with left over paint from the cab. i had to get new paint mixed for the passenger side of the box, but NAPA mixed it wrong so the color is off-which REALLY pissed me off. guess i should have tested a small area first! need to get them straitened out and redo that side of the box. overall, i dont think i did to bad for a first timer with a rattle can! hey, its a truck right!?!?

Thanks.....
The lace is layed over blue metalflake and candy blue is sprayed over it. Then the lace is removed and more candy blue is fogged along the masked edges....Fineline tape is then removed and a ton of clear is shot.
