the only air that would be coming in the truck would be from underneath ... and it is very little. those would do very little to direct air from underneath to do any good.

Re: What are these parts?

What about all the air that comes through the front of the truck?

Re: What are these parts?

There is air coming through the radiator via the fan when sitting still, or by being pushed through when moving. What goes in must go out, or the radiator would not cool down. The air exits from any opening from the engine compartment it can, going over, under, and around the engine in the process. Cars from the 30's and back that had louvers in the hood sides, had them there for the function of letting the hot air escape, not for looks.

Re: What are these parts?

Maybe they are defined in the assembly manual. If you had a part name it might help determine what they were actually for. Anyone got an assembly manual handy?

Re: What are these parts?

They are heat shields. I had them on my small block truck, and see them all the time in junkyards.

I think you may be misunderstanding him. I think he's trying to say they shield the heat from somewhere.

Re: What are these parts?

Heat shields? What's being shielded? My gut tells me they re-direct moving air towards the engine. I've just recently replaced my passenger side exhaust manifold because it had a growing crack right where that shield would have been if my truck has them.
