The dash bezel was perfect, and I tired to get him to sell me just that by itself, but he knew what he had. He was a really cool guy, and his price for what was there was more than fair.

Man that was a steal, I have heard of the dash piece only selling for $300.00 and the ashtray for $300.00 not counting the other factory air stuff...

Re: 1965 Factory C-10 A/C Question

Kieth-
If I didn't already have that stuff, I would have bought it myself. He didn't have the ashtray, though. That is a really hard to find part.

I always laugh when I tell people the story about how I bought my ashtray for $200 and they threw the rest of the truck in for free! When I went to go look at my '64, I looked in the window and saw the A/C vents, and when I opened the door and saw the ashtray, I shut the door real quick. I thought it was too good to be true. When the guy started talking down the price without any haggling at all from me, I finally reached out and shook his hand and sealed the deal. It was maybe one of the best car bargains I have ever had.

Re: 1965 Factory C-10 A/C Question

If i remember correctly, those round vents aren't steel, but plastic. The center one was steel. I removed mine and just shot 'em with some rattle
can chrome.

Wow i didn't know they were going for that much! I have a couple of extra dash vents and ash trays in my parts storage, not counting the dash vent and ash tray in my 66 ac truck. Guess i'm going to have to dig them out and put them somewhere safe. Joseph

Re: 1965 Factory C-10 A/C Question

bump.

I'm not really a fan of the factory center bezel/vents. Has anyone fabbed up their own vents (weld in delete panels and add vents ) where the ashtray and heater controls are?? If so, some pics would be great. I am considering doing this, as you would end up with a flush dash and cleaner look.
