60-62 and 63-66 column differences

I've started my search for a 60 automatic column and need to know what the differences are in the years. I've heard a change happened between 62 and 63. Is it looks, fit, or function? Will a 63-66 bolt in my 60 and fit fine?

Re: 60-62 and 63-66 column differences

short answer- no
but you can make one work
the bolts that hold the housing to the brake pedal support are in different spots.

the turn signal controls were different through the years, I think the breakdown is 60-62, 63-64, 65-66
as a result the turn signal cups attach differently, and the tops of the column housings are different.

if you need to piece a column together, you will need/be better off if you can find a complete one , or parts for the specific year you have.

IF, say you find a complete 65 auto column, you should be able to re drill the mounting holes, and make it fit.

I suggest finding a 65-66 colums, because those are the ones that have the most common replacement parts.

Not 100% sure but I think one of the differences is the wire connector is different.
There's a local yard here that has a 61 with a auto column in it. It would need to be rebuilt and it is missing the shift indicator.

What about looks? Is the physical appearance different from the driver's seat between the different years?

I'm willing to rebuild one, but it's too far away to get. Unless the local yard is willing to ship???
