Factory speaker sizes?
Hello All,
I recently purchased a 1986 Silverado SB 2WD. It has what appears to be factory rear speakers (both sides) and three front (dash) speakers. My wife purchased me the Retro Sound model #8573 stereo from LMC for Christmas. I would like to replace the speakers at the same time that I install the stereo. What size are the factory speakers and does anyone have a suggestion for what to replace them with? Thanks in advance for your input, Ratman |

Re: Factory speaker sizes?
you could wire a center speaker in series (mono) off of the front channels if the deck has 4 channels. That would give you a center stage, or you could not use it. I am using 2 3.5" 2-ways in the center of my '66. But I like having a center stage.

Re: Factory speaker sizes?
Can the dash speakers be mounted by removing the dash pad or do they need to be installed from under the dash?

Re: Factory speaker sizes?
there is a bracket (holding the speaker to the hole)if you can eliminate it you should be able to get a bigger speaker in there...

front http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KFC4...ml?tp=99&avf=N rear [QUOTE=WAAF;5090356] Bought these and finally got around to installing them this weekend. Just an FYI these 4x10's are much deeper than the factory ones and I had to make spacers to give them enough room for the additional depth. |
