Re: What Do You Guys Think?

Front clip is an old school bodyshop phrase. If a front end was SO damaged it needed to be replaced, then you go to the boneyard and "Clip" off a front end so you could use the parts off it,..hence Front clip. Doghouse, as far as I ever knew was the inside engine cover in a van.

Re: What Do You Guys Think?

Huh I guess it's pretty interesting to hear what different people call things in different regions.

Re: What Do You Guys Think?

Clip=majority
Doghouse=extreme minority

I think someone at sometime just got it wrong in your circle. I've lived all across this vast country and been restoring vehicles for nearly 30 years. In mechanical terms doghouse is the van engine cover and front clip is just like the above posters said.

That said my 'doghouse' is quite comfortable, it has many tools, heat, beer fridge, toonz and offensive pics. The wife is afraid.....very afraid, I'm ok with that

You guys have a unique usage of the phrases in your region.

Doghouse = engine cover in the interior of a van, or cab-over semi truck.
Front Clip = front end sheet metal to mean anything infront of the windshield regradless of vehicle type.
Camaro/Nova front frame portion = subframe.

That truck around here would probably have an asking price of 3-4 thousand.

Alex.
