I know this thread is old but cut them off won't hurt a thing. And screw those pricks from pirate. It's obvious that if you were interested in getting rid of the 10 bolt you wouldn't be asking the question. Everybody wants to chime in of what to do. "get a 14" yak yak. The guy just wants to enjoy some off road with what he has. Maybe he don't feel like he has to keep up with the joneses.

It isn't about 'keeping up'. A 10 bolt rear just doesn't survive very long offroad...and 14bolt FFs are cheap/plentiful.
