That insert is a GM NOS Insert bought in 2002...

I am assuming it is correct

For a 70, it is probably correct, but a '69 is a little different. A 70 has he horizontal slats. A 69 has the egg crate look

The best thing to do at this point would be to remove your grill insert and look for non-faded parts likely right behind the bar. From the pictures I have it appears to start a very dark gray/black. Then over the years fades to a light gray color. I would be inclined to use a very dark charcoalish satin black on a driver. Let me look through some more pictures of original trucks.
On NOS parts I must again give my standard caution. They are service replacement parts. They are contracted separately from production parts and may very well have been made by a different vendor at much later dates. Where possible applications are combined with function the priority resulting in color, detail and texture variations being dropped along the way.
