I have a similar delima. If you change the front, I think the hub diameters on the rear will be bigger then the front.
I have some 6 bolt wheels from a late 90's truck that I'd like to use. But the center hole is 3". The hub on the stock rear end is 3 1/2". Is changing the rear end my only option?

You can have the wheels machined to fit over the rear hubs,Or you can have the hubs machined to fit any of the later wheels.Keep in mind that the offset on later wheels is different so you may not like the way they tuck way under and there is a possibility of the wheels inner lip hitting on the front control arms or the tie rod ends.
