Re: lowered 88 to 98 P/U with step side pics?

I wouldn't mind my truck dropped but I don't want to remove the running boards.

You could get away with a 2/4 with them.

OK now with a 2/4 drop would I have to C-Notch my frame and what would you recommend also would I need to buy new shocks I don't know nothing when it comes to a drop? All that's on my truck now is drop shackles that came with my truck when I bought it brand new.

Some years back my son was in your home town in my truck to see some girl. Oh your truck looks awesome I love it.

No.

For the rear, yes. For the front, it depends.

Since you already have the shackles, I would suggest just getting a pair of drop hangers to add to them. Even though hangers are a royal pain to install, that would be the least expensive route.

Up front you can either go with drop springs or drop spindles. Coils will make the ride just a little firmer and will require new drop shocks. Spindles will keep the stock ride and stock shocks, but they're more expensive than springs. Either way will do the job just fine.

That sums it up for me too. Kurt3's is another example of a clean 90's throwback. Has it really been long enough ago that we can be nostalgic?

Both have a 2/4 drop with drop spindles and a rear shackle and hanger kit

Re: lowered 88 to 98 P/U with step side pics?

BHB, I love that black and blue truck...my best friend in high school had an 89 chevy short/fleet that was basically the same color scheme -- had been blue/black/blue from the factory, and got a black repaint at the bottom. I had already saved that picture to my computer from another thread.

Re: lowered 88 to 98 P/U with step side pics?

finally got a chance to dig through some old photo albums to find some earlier pics of my old '93 short/step...in the beginning, it only had 2" drop shackles from the factory conversion

my Senior year of high school; original 2-tone fade paint:

after changing wheels, adding sport mirrors, & cowl hood:

another wheel/tire change, repaint, phantom grille, painted bumper/air dam:

after 5/8 drop, chrome grille/bumper, shaved doors, primer, new wheels/tires:

GMC grille swap, street rod mirror, door logo:

how it looked a year after I sold it:

Chrome Coys FTW...although I've always liked the old-school hot rod look on that truck too.

Dang Phillip. I've admired that hotrod truck for years. Wouldn't have dreamed it started from that conversion trk and then to have morphed into the last version.

thanks...I liked the old school look as well & probably would've kept it that way had I not sold it; it was just unique, fun, & easy to maintain

Thanks! It went through quite a few changes over my 9 years of ownership . I wish the guy I sold it to would've kept the GMC grille when he repainted it (last pic). It was for sale @ Cruisin' the Coast in Biloxi, MS when I took that pic in 2008. No idea where it's at today, but I can only hope it was treated as well as when I had it. Lots of memories from that truck!

nice i always like the 88 to 98 wheels. i cant find any square body mags, so ill probably find some factory ralleys for your guys years of intrest. wish i had an un molested 88 to 98 chevy or GMC to customize than id be a little happier with building a bad truck. the wheels always blow me away from factory on these years. the slotted ones especially
