Heater Core Probs... Again!!
Hey guys just me again... Ha. On betty (my 79 k10) the heater core started leakin. Well i replaced it with one from the parts store n the little tabs/ bolts on the top n side broke which where my problems began. i got a different box n well the heat isn't hot and it has all good tabs... It's Not rven warm. I ended up running hoses from the intake to water pump hopen to get hot water and it still didn't nothin. I'm to the stumped point anymore.

Re: Heater Core Probs... Again!!
Was this new core alujerbin? Or copper? You want the flow to go from the bottom to the top so it blows out any air bubbles. Is your truck a/c equipped or once was?

Re: Heater Core Probs... Again!!
Ok aluminum heater cores are real bad they conduct heat horribly. You need a quality copper style one. That may be part if the issue

Re: Heater Core Probs... Again!!
Yah so after this make sure the water exits the top and make sure the engine is fully warm. Also make sure the blower is working

Re: Heater Core Probs... Again!!
Little insight. Can't buy a copper core, no surprise there. I put a 195 thermostat in it hopin to get it hotter, no change... Routed my hoses the 3/4 from intake to top 5/8 from bottom to pump. Still nothin.

Re: Heater Core Probs... Again!!
It's a 50/50 mix of o'reilly green stuff. One gLlon full one gallon water then top off half/half pre-mix. Says -40c to i think 250? Not for sure.

i'd get the tester to confirm, too much/too little anti freeze would get slushy,or worse

Re: Heater Core Probs... Again!!
Go with copper. You can order AC Delco or GM OEM online at cheap prices and free shipping.
Make sure you have the correct thermostat in your truck and that it is opening, not stuck shut. |
