Re: cheapest way to make my truck quieter?
Installing Peel n Seal now with some 3/8" insulation in certain areas to improve sound deadening, reduce resonance on my stock 87 Silverado SWB , and give the truck a more solid feel. So far, installed on the rear cab wall behind the seats and speakers, inside outer door skin and outer door panel skin. Hopefully will get a solid "thud" sound when closing doors.
Peel n Seal is cheap, easy to work with, seems to be more rubber based than asphalt based and no noticeable smell. May be wrong, but adhears well and don't think it will become unstuck with temperature changes. |

Re: cheapest way to make my truck quieter?
peel n seal will work to dampen your sheet metal, but it is not butyl based, it's bitumen, trust me, i'm a roofer & have used all these products. and it will fall off in hot or cold weather. we have used it as a base sheet on metal roof curbs & come back in the morning & it's laying on the roof. because i can get it for less than cost, i seriously debated using it, but seeing how it performs (for years), i went with fatmat extreme instead. people will chime in about it, & it will work (to a degree), just dont expect it to stay stuck really well on vertical or overhead surfaces

Re: cheapest way to make my truck quieter?
Grace makes a high-temp butyl (non-bituminous) flashing. I'm going to see if I can get my hands on some and try it out:

Fatmat. I use it and many of my friends use it. Great reviews, cheaper than dynamat.
