Re: 63-87 rack and pinion
Yes, these did start out as a Chevy 1/2 ton rack, the pass side housing is rotated, and the inner tie rod ends are custom machined. One big benefit is that seals, bushings, shafts, bearings and boots for these will be around for ever. Also, P/S hoses will be easy to fit by using the OE chevy hoses (99-08)

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion
Hmmm, New close ratio box, $429. new inner and outer tie rod ends, $138.44. new idler arm, $47.35. thats $614.79 for the stocky way. So, for the low low price difference of only $234.21 (insert loud aussie voice here) you, yes you can have a better driving, quicker driving truck. Operators are standing buy NOW

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion
So I got one through Brothers, thanks for drop shipping.
I have the entire crossmember off. Is there any advantage to welding your bracket on? Also, what's the bump steer like with this kit? |

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion
anyone have issues with their rack moving side to side, mine will move a bit and throw the wheel off center.
Also im using mine with an LS P/S pump and it seems very "reactive", seems like i should put a pressure reduction kit in it to tone it down. Anyone else done that? |
