If you can get a good 305 for a good price make sure its the LB9 from an iroc or the LE9 from a truck. Factory high compression pistons and the cams are better than any other. Headers intake and a recurve on the distributor wakes them up good. Factory 350vs 305 wasn't much diff. Just better mpg and 10less hp. The 305 was designed by gm to do the work of a 350 but use less gas.

Buying crate is always a bite at first, but it eleviates the gamble. You know what you are getting, you know it's good, you know you will be happy with it. That being said, I'm off to the junk yard to see if I can find some parts.
