Re: '72 Cheyenne Project - Kansas City

Thanks, I need all the encouragement I can get. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.. at least for getting the top end bolted back together and running.

Re: '72 Cheyenne Project - Kansas City

Here's the new intake all clearcoated with some Eastwood Diamond Satin Clear. I love that stuff for bare metal. I topped it off with some ARP carb studs and a 1" spacer.

Info on the EPS intake..

Dual-plane Edelbrock Performer EPS intake manifolds deliver dyno-proven horsepower gains from idle to 5,500 rpm, when used with Edelbrock's Performer series square-bore or Thunder series AVS carburetors. Dyno tests showed an extra 5 HP and 9 ft.-lbs. over their own Performer manifold. The secret's in the all-new runner design, which is tuned to produce substantial torque increases in the 3,000-4,500 rpm range--with peak torque at 3,500 rpm. That's power where you need it the most!

Re: '72 Cheyenne Project - Kansas City

I've been wanting to do the same thing to my intake, have you done this before on engine parts? Does the Eastwood clear hold up to the heat?

I haven't used any of the parts I've sprayed with it yet. It's supposed to be good for 350ºF. Here's the link to it: http://www.eastwood.com/specialty-co...sol-11-oz.html

I coated my old polished intake with it before I sold it and I coated my valve covers with the high gloss version. I like the way everything has turned out. It's nice to not leave fingerprints on my polished aluminum valve covers.

Re: '72 Cheyenne Project - Kansas City

oh.. and just a note.. the hood in that pic is scrap. Just so the rust on it doesn't confuse people. I'll likely end up using it for patch panels.. right now it's serving as a workbench.

Re: '72 Cheyenne Project - Kansas City

Gasket on and Copper Sealed.. about to make the mistake of bolting the heads on before we checked for TDC. haha.

While I'm tightening down some of the head bolts Brian notices something peculiar about the cam we pulled out.

Which reminds me that one of the pushrods was a little worse for wear. I thought maybe I'd roughed it up taking it out.. I sometimes employ Gorilla strength and it's well within the realm of possibility that I could have bent it.. that lobe tells otherwise though.

Ahhhh.. heads are on. Time for some pizza!

Decided to set most everything on the motor before we called it a day to see how it'll all look. I dig it, even though the timing gear is on backwards. Thanks for the help B!

Re: '72 Cheyenne Project - Kansas City

I bought them off of ebay. Those are the tall ones. Here's a link to the valve cover section of the seller's store that I bought them from:

http://stores.ebay.com/abad71camaro_...34Q2ec0Q2em322

In case that link doesn't work here's the link to the store, seller's handle is abad71camaro :

http://stores.ebay.com/abad71camaro

He had a lot of cool valve covers.. it was hard to choose between these and the ball milled ones.
