Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
After re-doing the right inner rocker and getting a satisfactory fit, I decided to redo the left side as well. I started by cutting out the old inner rocker. It was up to high and the outer rocker would not weld on the bottom. I then welded in a new one in. After some careful measuring, I welded in the outer rocker and buttoned up the left corner too. See what you think.

I think that looks very good. Have you test fit the doors I assume?

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
VA72C10: I test fit the door several times to get the best fit. i first installed the rockers using self drilling screws and test fit before welding. if I had done that the first time, I wouldn't have had to redo the inner rockers. Live and learn my friend .

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Good deal! Many make the mistake of not checking the doors....I even ran across a cab that a buddy had that the doors would not close after paint even w/out the gaskets because of the rocker fit....the po had never test fit the doors before paint.......

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Greetings. Its been a couple of months since my last post. Here is my update. I've installed the cab, fenders, and hood for mock up purposes. I'm having trouble getting the hood gaps even. If i fix one side the other side is off...frustrating! My goal is to get it into a shop this winter..we'll see. I let my kids help out with the paint job.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Oh..forgot to mention..I picked up these 18x10, 18x8.5 boys timeless wheels a couple weeks ago. Not sure if i'm going to use them, but they were a great deal. They were on the black truck below.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Nice wheels, but unless you have a late-model rearend in your project you're going to need spacers to use them. The '88-up rearend is about 2" wider than earlier models like yours. Not crapping on the purchase -- just giving a heads-up.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Thanks for the heads-up on the wheels. I still need to get the bed on so I can really see if i like the fit and look of the 18's. I may go with 20's.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Greeting Folks,
It's been a while since my last post, but I have been checking out what you fine folks have been doing with your projects. I'm happy to report that we are back to work on the C10. Final bodywork and blocking has begun. The cab, doors, and fenders are almost done. I still don't know what color I want to go with. Any suggestions?? |

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Thanks Nate. Blank Slate came out excellent. I like her stance. That's the same ECE set up I have on my frame. Hopefully mine will turn out half as nice as yours.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
We finally finished blocking the whole truck. I still need to finish the door jams and some other areas you do see much. I still cant decide on a color!

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
What colors do you like? What colors on other vehicles or in nature have inspired you?
For my truck I'm going with white. Just because it's simple, makes dents harder to see, and that's what mine came with stock. But don't let that be your reason. ;-)
