Ride of Springs vs Coilover
I'm building a street cruiser, nothing for the track.
I'm looking at a coilover/tubular arm kit that ridetech sells. http://www.ridetech.com/store/1963-1...rm-system.html Guess the big advantage is the ability to change ride height. Can someone tell me how coilover ride will compare to springs and new set of performance shocks. Thanks |

Re: Ride of Springs vs Coilover
A lot depends on what you personally want in your ride. If you want a very soft ride go with the springs but I would not get the "performance" shocks. These are typically stiffer than the cheap shocks. They will hold onto the road better but you will feel more of the bumps. Many coilover shock have adjustable ride height and adjustable stiffness. So they be the way to go if you want a lot of options in ride quality.

Re: Ride of Springs vs Coilover
Thanks for the feedback.
Don't want too soft a soft ride. I'm looking for a modern car ride something like you would expect from a full size modern sedan. Don't really need adjustability once set up. Based on this, what do you think would be the best combination? |

Re: Ride of Springs vs Coilover
To get it to ride like a modern luxury sedan, I would say you will need some good coilovers or better yet air bags. Air ride is how cars like Cadillac and Lincoln get their great ride (plus they weigh a lot). You could do air bags on your truck around the same price range as the system you are looking at.
