I didn't understand what you were saying at first but now I think I understand.
Yes, the Alcoa center caps are installed from the outside.
What I was proposing is to run the mounts for the simulator hub covers under the compression ring - between the compression ring and the outside of the wheel. Similar to what monte0185 has on his wheels.
Seems feasible, but if it is a risk of a mounting failure then I will forget the idea?

Looking through the thread I think you are talking about, it looks like he took the Alcoa lugs and had them zinc plated, then used the stock centers.
I have the centers, and the lug-nut caps/covers but think the simulator hub covers would be a cleaner look.

My gf is telling me to stop dinking (or another similar word...) around and just buy the lug nuts and get on with my life!
