Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck

your welcome. I find it kind of neat that both our trucks where made in the Fremont plant.

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck

3/4 ton BB auto trucks came with a dana 60 rear with 3.54 gears IIRC, not the eaton 4:11 found in small block trucks. Though with anything related to these trucks there seems to be no hard and fast rules.

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck

I've finally gotten the truck home after a long 1365 miles and 2 ½ days. She runs and drives almost like a new truck! She is a thirsty beast though, averaged about 11-13 mpg doing 60-65 mph. Engine seems to be pretty good, it used ½ quart of oil in the first 600 miles and then didn’t use anymore after that. The previous owner only drove it 4000 miles in the last 6 years so I think she need a good run.

The paint is faded and very chalky, I thought I'd try and polish a small spot on the hood, well now I am committed to finishing the whole thing. I can't believe that the paint still has some shine left in it!

Here’s a few pictures, hope you like.

Ok, wife's 68. A project in progress, should have it finished this winter. At least I hope so.

Dropped 3.5" in the front and 5" out back, disk brake conversion in the front and a LS2/4L70E from a 2007 Trailblazer SS.

As far as I know, the only trucks that had 6 lug 3/4 ton trucks were the "light duty" models from 1988-1998. Traditionally 3/4 ton trucks were all 8 lug with "full floating" axles.

Great Find! It'll be a great stablemate to your other truck.

Well... I have a 70 Camaro RS/Z28 that I finished a 4 year restoration on last year. This has always been my dream car, until my wife got her 68 C10. I am totally in love with these trucks! I find they are so nice to drive and I get way more attention in her truck than I do in the Z.

Car's put a way for the winter now so now I can have fun with the other girls..

The Zee!

Thanks, but you'll have to tell the Fuel Cell Guy that you like it! Thats who built it for me. The only thing I did was get it covered in Line-X bed liner.

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck

I just bought a 68 C10 50th Anniversary truck.
I'm trying to decide how to proceed. I can drive it as is or do some upgrades.
If I go "original", I will need to stay with the original paint color. I will also need to find a custom upholsterer to redo the seat and interior door panels.
I can't find 50th ann. interior offered as an after market replacement.
Am I butchering this truck if I deviate from the 50th anniversary details?
These trucks look awesome in lots of colors. I'm not crazy about the gold and white color combination.

Welcome new guy! This is a 5 year old thread. You should start a new one of your own with pics of your ride.
