pool liner as sound deadner ?

Kinda dumb but friend is replacing their pool liner and thought some of the old liner would work as a sound deadner in the back of my blazer. Is nice thick rubber or what ever it is made of.

For even cheaper and more effectiveness, mix sand into the paint . Mass is what's needed to cut down low frequency noise.
