Re: DTC code 54, fuel pump relay

My guess is, the fuel pump is going bad and it has damaged the fuel pump relay or wiring connections.

A code 54 happens when the computer does not see power on the circuit from the fuel relay to the fuel pump, when the computer is sending power to the relay to apply the relay.

Sometimes when the fuel pump is failing the currant flow through the pump goes up considerably. This tends to damage many of the parts of both of the fuel pumps redundant circuits melting and damaging the connection at the fuel pump, fuel tank sender,fuel relay, and wire harness.
